I am a seminary student at Liberty University with one more semester to complete before my graduation with a Master of Divinity degree and Church History Cognate. I am also a T-10- paraplegic, injured on the job on 03/06/2006 as a trucking manager passenger in a 24ft. truck, paralyzed waist down, I've lived now nearly 13yrs after this accident. Soon after the accident, I suffered a serious coccyx area pressure wound that required four surgeries and finally was corrected via skin-flap surgery. Since then, I have been suffering from various pressure wounds, but generally in three to four months of treatment at the Wound Care Healing Center, each has healed up, with my wife Debbie redressing them regularly.   Nearly three weeks ago, a very serious wound appeared in my buttocks area, a few inches from the last serious coccyx wound I’d recovered from. Wound Care Healing Center refused to treat such a serious wound and sent me immediately to York Hospital E.R. I was admitted that evening, Friday, Dec. 14. The wound was surgically debrided at the O.R. on Saturday, Dec. 15. Nuclear bone scans have indicated infection in the bones, which the surgeon will attempt to get some of the actual infected bone-tissue in surgery scheduled for tomorrow, 12/24.  The recommended treatment will be regularly flushing the wound through the K.C.I. vacu-flow wound vac, along with I.V. antibiotics, a pressure relief mattress, and regular monitoring from My surgeon and wound care physicians, of which I now have four attending to my situation. They believe I will need to be in the nursing home facility for at least 6wks before I can return home. Their goal is that the wound fills in with healthy tissue for me to resume a normal life.  Like my last serious pressure wound 12 years ago, this one hit us quite unexpectedly. Fortunately, medical science has advanced in wound care technology, which may cut my healing time for this wound from nine months with the first serious wound to perhaps half that time. I appreciate your prayers on my behalf, and for my wife who struggles to uphold our household responsibilities. I believe our situation qualifies for what Scripture calls "cases of urgent need." (Titus 3:14)  Would you be willing to help? Any funds you send would go towards helping to support my wife, daughter, and two granddaughters, as well as my wheelchair-van payments (which are huge). Medically, after Medicare A & B pays part of my hospital and nursing home bills, there may be a portion Medicare will not cover. I am applying for medical assistance or Medicaid to possibly fill in that gap.
