Medical and Funeral Costs for Karrah

My 18 year old niece, Karrah, has cerebral palsy. She was recently diagnosed with a case of rhinovirus and pneumonia which caused her to go into respiratory failure on Saturday afternoon. Since then Karrah has been in the PICU at Shands Hospital in Gainesville fighting for her life.

Unfortunately, the damage to her organs and more specifically her brain due to lack of oxygen is more than she can recover from. We’ve had to begin end of life planning. While we’re heart broken, we know that Karrah will soon be in the hands of her Heavenly Father and free from the physical body that’s constrained her for her entire life.

This was very much an unexpected event, and my sister is the sole source of income for her household. The expenses of essentially living at the hospital, not working, along with medical costs is a lot to bear.

In addition, we now have to consider funeral expenses on top of that. Our family would be grateful if you’re in a position to offer any kind of support at all.
