Medical and Heartworm Treatment Fundraiser for Jake

Tax deductible
We saw Jake's photo posted at a high kill shelter in the South. He was found as a stray and looked so sweet and so we took him into our care before his time was up. When he arrived, this emaciated 7-year old Golden retriever shepherd mix looked like he had been on his own for a while. Weighing in at only 51 lbs. (about 20 lbs. underweight), Jake looked like he had a tough life. At our vet, his exam revealed broken teeth most likely from trying to chew his way to freedom. He was heartworm positive and full of intestinal parasites including giardia; he also had ear and skin infections. We did bloodwork, gave him flea/tick preventatives, he was dewormed, he is on antibiotics for his ear and skin infections, and has started doxycycline and prednisone as part of the initial heartworm treatment. Once he has completed his initial round of meds and his system is a little stronger and he's gained some weight, he will start the actual heartworm treatment.

Jake has a great demeanor and has never met a stranger. He is dog-friendly, super sweet, gentle and so deserving.

His invoices have totaled over $1000. for his initial checkup, tests and meds. He still needs to be treated for heartworm.

Please help by donating to this very sweet dog who should know what it's like to live inside, with a soft bed and plenty of food to eat.

We are hoping to find a NJ foster so that Jake can recover from his heartworm treatment in the comfort of a home.

On behalf of Jake,

Thank you.
