Medical and Living Costs for Lara James

To know Lara is to love her. When I describe Lara to others, I say that she is the person who has been the most like Jesus in my life. Forgiving, understanding, compassionate, always selflessly giving, while also generous and kind, she has touched so many with her letters, cards, art, desserts, gifts, and friendship. Not only is she authentic, but she has a gift of humor and laughter that delights us all. After being on the receiving end of Lara's love, we now have a way to embrace her with our love when she needs it most. 

 

In December, Lara, a single mom, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Shortly after, in February, a stage three unknown sarcoma was removed from her pelvis. Devastatingly, during June, two large tumors were discovered in Lara’s pelvis. Lara is receiving radiation and the plan is to also treat her with chemotherapy and surgery. Currently, she is staying at Hope Lodge, near Moffit Cancer Center, where she is receiving treatment from sarcoma specialists and one of the only sarcoma radiation doctors in the world. 

Losing a necessary part of her income, as she ended her teaching job because of her health and is no longer able to work her sales job, Lara is unsure of how expenses and bills will be paid. Thankfully, this is where we can step up and help our inspirational friend. Let’s rally around her through generous financial support, easing her of a worrisome burden so that she can focus on fighting, recovering, and healing.  

 

As our beautiful friend courageously battles cancer, we can also lift her up with cards, letters, text messages, and phone calls. Although financial help is especially needful, we can most importantly support her with prayers. To know Lara is to love her, and to love her is to support her.
