Hello everyone!
My name is Alejandra “la Fenix” Ayala, professional boxer with 20 professional fights in Mexico, USA, Canada and Scotland.
My last fight was in Glasgow, Scotland on May 13, 2022 for a WBO and IBO championship. Despite an amazingly great 3-month training, I was hit in a matter that caused me to end the fight and go to the hospital where I took CT Scans in the emergency department. The result was a very bad bruise on the left side, and I became confused and physically worse so I was induced and given an urgent surgery to resolve the bleeding then inserted a cranial pressure monitor.
My intercranial pressure rose dangerously despite being in an induced coma so I was taken back to the operation room where I was given a second emergency surgery and a big piece of my head bone was removed and put in my tummy in order to decompress the swallow of the brain, and because another CT scan showed the problem of a formation of a clog in a venus trombosis the whole situation continued to be monitored. Nonetheless, 10 days later the doctor said it is dangerous leaving someone in an induced coma too long as it could cause very physical and mental problems. Therefore, I was woken up from the coma and one week later, a third surgery was performed to put back the flat bone.
This was a long process where the doctors told my parents I was likely going to die before and during the first two surgeries. Then before and after the third surgery they told my parents I was probably not going to be able to walk, remember the past or talk.
Today the whole initial head injury has made excellent recovery, I remember situations and people little by little and I am able to talk better week by week, to the point that the doctors can’t believe it! They told me that my case proved them incredibly wrong as far as what they imagined would happen for survival and recovery. And although I am extremely happy and constantly thank God for my second life, I do know that I still need to work hard and long to go back to my strong life.
I have been working here in Glasgow through the free medical foundation NFC with speech and language therapists which have greatly helped, but I still struggle a lot to read, write and speak. Although I have gotten a lot better, I still often get confused especially with numbers, food, animals, etc. These things that are so common and I have known very well my entire life. I also have forgotten the words for all the jobs I do including everything with boxing such as coaching.
I also woke up from my coma without being able to do anything physical. Due to fisiotherapy that I have been doing here, today I can walk, but I can’t go up and down stairs too well or do any other workout that I used to do three times a day, seven days a week. Therefore, will also need physical therapy to regain my strength.
Lastly, I need occupational therapy to regain various tasks such as cooking, cleaning, washing, etc. I will also need supervision as it can be a bit dangerous due to the heaviness and thinking difficulty.
I have been informed that this recovery will take about a year, and I will do it in where I'm from – Mexico.
I have begun looking for potential therapists and doctors, and they all seem great but expensive so I am asking for any donation that you are able to help me out with.

Thank you for your contribution from the bottom of my heart and God bless.
