Medical assistance for a rare autoimmune disease
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Carlyn and I would like to raise a fund for my sister Mariz who’s been in hospital since last week. She’s been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease that affects the brain known as Bickerstaff Brainstem Encephalitis (BBE) and is currently in a critical condition.
On June 20, after getting home from work, she started suffering from severe headache and dizziness. Her symptoms worsened the following days where she started vomiting and feeling numb and weak on her legs and feet. She was rushed to the hospital on June 23 and has been in ICU of the Perpetual Help Las Pinas, Philippines. She’s had a lumbar tap procedure, plasma exchange and being treated with Medrol at the moment. However, due to her condition she still remains in ICU.
Your donation will go towards her mounting hospital bill and medical expenses. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her and the doctor advised that she will also require intensive physiotherapy sessions to fully recover.
Mariz is a high school teacher and guidance counsellor. She is dedicated to her job and had never taken a day off work for being sick. I am sure she now misses her teaching job, her students and work colleagues.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. On behalf of our family, I’d like to thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. May God Bless and protect you always.
