Medical Assistance for the Jack Trudeau Family
Thank you for visiting Jack’s page. We greatly appreciate it!
If you’re a football fan (Illini, Big Ten, or NFL), you know my dad, Jack Trudeau. Jack(dad) came to Illinois from California to help restore the Fighting Illini back to the national spotlight and did he ever! He was Illinois’ QB during their Big 10 Championship season in 1983, leading the only team in Big 10 history to defeat every team in the conference. Jack went on to be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, working in the league for over 10 years.
Late last week Jack suffered a major stroke. Throughout his stay in the ICU he continued to a series of mini strokes. His doctors concluded that the strokes are a result of high blood pressure and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, commonly known as CTE for those of you familiar with traumatic brain injuries. Obviously, there is no cure for CTE, however there are medicines to help decrease the chances of future strokes due to high blood pressure.
Jack will have a long road ahead of him, but for those of you who have ever been around him know that he’s tough as nails. He’ll begin this rehab journey this week with a goal to regain his mobility and sight back.
Many of you have asked how you can help. As you can imagine, the road to recovery and everything that goes with it is very expensive. Jack will be responsible for hospital bills, rehabilitation bills, medical transportation costs, home health care, and more. All donations received will go towards these expenses to help Jack through his recovery. Thank you for your prayers and support. If you are unable to donate, please share this link. #JackStrong
