Hello,
My name is Susan and I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, it is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it harder for the lungs to work properly. Pulmonary fibrosis worsens over time. Some people can stay stable for a long time, but the condition gets worse faster in others. As it gets worse, people become more and more short of breath.

Average survival is between three to five years, and I was diagnosed in 2021. I am 60 years old, was never a smoker, so I am the "One in a Million" case for this diagnosis and there is no cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis, my lungs are at working at about 50% and I am on oxygen 24/7.

I also have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include breathing difficulty, cough, mucus (sputum) production and wheezing. It's typically caused by long-term exposure to irritating gases or particulate matter, most often from cigarette smoke. People with COPD are at increased risk of developing heart disease, lung cancer and a variety of other conditions.

To round out this trifecta I have Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. An irregular heart rhythm is called an arrhythmia. AFib can lead to blood clots in the heart. The condition also increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.

In October 2020 I collapsed and was rushed to emergency and misdiagnosed with pneumonia, as that persisted, and I did not get any better I continued with doctors' appointments and was finally properly diagnosed. Upon recommendation from my pulmonologist, I spent most of 2023 going to the Keck Transplant Center being tested to see if I would be a good candidate for a Dual Lung Transplant, I was not.
I have health insurance, but it does not cover everything, my prescriptions are not cheap, My O2 level can drop at any moment even when on oxygen so I am no longer allowed to drive, cannot go out and get a job and have to work from home to help make ends meet, all the medical bills keep stacking up.

My profile picture is from my surprise 60th Birthday Party, back in October, that was too much flame to have around oxygen.

The prescriptions are insanely expensive, and I have had some assistance from the drug manufacturers, but these are not the common drugs, so they are not in high demand. What's not more fun is all the other medications that I have to take for the side effects.

I have an amazing family and will leave them with wonderful memories, however I don't want to bury them in debt.

Any and all help is appreciated, Thank You.
