Medical bills and recovery for Melissa Lewis

October 4, 2020 is when I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. I had been having headaches for a couple of weeks and thought it might be Covid. I felt better over the weekend and went to work and got another migraine around lunch time. After work, when I pulled up to my house, I had a pain in my rib cage. I thought it was weird because I didn’t remember getting hurt. I called off work the next day (Monday) and got a Covid test. The following Sunday I woke up and couldn’t take a full breath. It felt like my lungs were having spasms. I freak out and told my mom that I need to go to the ER because I really think I have Covid. When I get there they run some tests because they have gotten my negative Covid results. They ended up doing a ct scan. A doctor and a nurse came into the room and told me I have cancer. They said it was all over my body. I have a mass in my breast, my lymph node, my ribs, my skull, my neck, my spine, and my femur. I had to have a bone scan to see if they needed to put a rod in my leg so it doesn’t break. Luckily I didn’t need it. I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago and I have treatment every three weeks. Last January I had to do ten round of radiation to my skull. Overall I cannot complain. I feel healthy and get to spend this time with the people I love. Just make sure you live your true life and don’t let anyone make you question your self worth. Smile and know you are blessed.
