Medical bills due to Stage 4 lung cancer
Donation protected
For those of you who don't know Theresa Sumner ... let me tell you a little about her story and why the fundraiser.
Theresa was diagnosed with Stage 4 non small cell lung cancer about 6 months ago. After further testing, her medical team found the lung cancer had metastasized to the liver, brain and vertebrae. In her situation, there is NO CURE. It is inoperable and at this time, conventional chemo and radiation is not an option. The best treatment was decided to be TAGRISSO, a prescription medicine used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has certain abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene(s). The goal is to shrink the tumors and slow the metastasis (spread). So far, it has done a good job with shrinkage. The end goal with the Tagrisso is to give her a somewhat quality life while waiting on a "cure" or better treatment. This could mean 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years. Nobody really knows. With the Tagrisso comes some side effects that prevent her from working. The nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, bone pain, she is immunocompromised and faces a lot of emotional disregulation.
With all of this, the cost of medical care, the expensive meds she has to take and normal life things, bills are stacking up and stuff already hitting collections. Theodore Sumner is working a lot to keep their heads above water but, it's getting harder and harder (as you can imagine).
I ask that every one reading this share the GFM and help us make this fundraiser a success and relieve some of Ted and Theresa's stress during a very difficult time.
