Medical Bills For Ed Reineke

Donation protected
On Tuesday, August 18th Ed had a very serious headache. Over the course of  3 days his wife, Dana started watching him very closely as he started acting out of the norm and  saying things that made no sense. on Friday  August 21, 2020   Dana took him to the hospital and the Doctor immediately ordered a CT scan and with in two hours Ed was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM) which is the UGLIEST, fastest growing brain tumor there is.  GBM has no cure.  By this time Ed was completely unaware of who he was, who his wife was and who is son was.

The plan of attack was to undergo surgery and to remove MOST of the tumor (as it is way to large and deep to remove it all) just enough to temporarily relieve pressure and allow him to communicate and to give him and his loved ones the chance to say their goodbyes at home and not at the hospital. The surgery was expected to be 4-6 hours. The surgery ended up being two and a half hours as they found out it was actually an infected abscess. Which is a MIRACLE. Unfortunately the infection covered the entire left side of his brain and was being fueled by blood vessels. This caused extreme trauma to the brain.

The doctors said that Ed should be talking by now and he's not.  He has stroke like facial paralysis and his right arm is non-responsive at this time.

Ed has been the foundation of their family as his wife Dana is unable to work and she was denied for disability. Dana was in an accident when she was 10 years old and has had surgery after surgery each time it went from bad to worse. She has literally been a prisoner of her own home.  Ed has been her support and care giver for the last few years. On top of that Ed was diagnosed with Hep C 30 years ago and was denied life insurance and wouldn't be eligible until 3 years  Hep C free. Fortunately, Ed was cured from this almost exactly 3 years ago making this month the 3 year mark where he can now apply for life insurance. Unfortunately, his current condition is making him ineligible once again.

He is looking at a long road to recovery and as Covid 19 has disseminated all of our incomes, it has effected Ed, his family and their small family owned business tremendously.   Losing his health in this manner along with the trials of the current pandemic we are asking for any assistance you may be able to offer for one of our community's own.  Please include Ed and his family in your prayers and thoughts.
