Medical bills for Sal Contreras

Hi, I’m Jen, Sal’s wife and we’re raising funds to help pay for unexpected medical bills and living expenses while Sal is recovering.

Sal was hit while riding his motorcycle to work on April 19th. He was turning left when a car changed lanes and came from behind others cars, speeding through the intersection and hitting Sal.

Sal saw the car coming at the last minute and had time to lift his leg to try and get it out of the way. The car hit him, crushing his foot between the bike and car. The impact literally exploded out the bottom and side of his foot, broke (we think) 17 bones, and his heel.

They have done one surgery already wiring it all together but he has at least one more to put in plates and screws.

He is facing a lengthy recovery. 8 weeks non-weight bearing, two weeks elevated, and depending how future surgery goes, potentially even more downtime.

We do have health insurance, and that will help, but we have deductibles and out of pocket expenses that we aren’t prepared for while he’s recovering and not able to work or coach.

His biggest regret in all this is being unable to coach and work with the kids. He talks non-stop about his teams and the kids he works with and wanting to get higher level licenses. He is devastated about not being able to coach for at least the next 2-3 months.
