Medical help for our little boy with encephalitis

Donation protected
Our family would love some assistance after our little four-month-old, Sam Gilliland, was infected with the new Japanese Encephalitis virus.
We were camping the week of Australia day when he was bitten by a mosquito. Sam started developing symptoms a fortnight later with running a high fever which then lead to a convulsion at home and in-turn having to call triple zero. Sam was taken to the Royal Children's hospital where he spent 2 long weeks,  with 2 nights in ICU, and included further days of several seizures, having a lumbar puncture, MRI & PIIC line into his jugular (both performed under anesthetic), EEG, 10 day course of antibiotics and 21 days of antivirals, many blood tests and constant monitoring. Sam is now recovering at home, with further in-home hospital care, regular hospital follow-ups with the amazing team at the Royal Childrens Hospital and is on twice daily anti-seizure medication for the foreseeable future. We have a windy road to travel with Sam during his recovery with close monitoring of his development to ensure he meets all milestones along the way to becoming a thriving little boy.

Thank you all so much.
