Medical Bills for The Prestridge Family

Hi, my name is Alexa (Prestridge) Carraway. I am the daughter of Russ and Jeni Prestridge. Recently, my parents have had some hard times with medical issues.

At the beginning of September, Jeni, aka mom, had surgery in Hot Springs. She ended up having some post-bleeding complications. She called asking if this was normal, and the hospital assured her it was fine. Fast forward a week and a half, and she had passed out in the shower. The EMT told dad (Russ) that it looked like at least 1-2 pints of blood in the shower. Come to find out, the doctor did not stitch mom up inside correctly, causing her to bleed.

Also in September, Russ, aka dad, got diagnosed by a Hot Springs Doctor with a brain bleed. The doctor sent him home and said they would continue to monitor it. Dad also decided to see his heart doctor, and his heart doctor agreed and sent him home for them to watch it. Three weeks later, they did another CT scan to find the bleeding was no longer just upfront on the right side but all along the right side of his head. They called and asked mom to get him to the hospital ASAP. After Mom had issues with surgeons in Hot Springs, mom decided to take him to Baptist in Little Rock, AR. Before they could do his surgery, they had to get the all-clear from a heart doctor. They ordered an echo and found that dad also has a 5.3mm leak in his aortic valve. The doctor said it had been there for a while (so his Cardiologist in Hot Springs missed it). Long story short, dad had a burr hole surgery to relieve the bleeding and pressure on his brain but was in Nuro ICU from October 11th-19th.

We are very thankful and blessed with the doctors at Baptist. God was watching over him! They took excellent care of dad and found the issue with his heart. He will need heart surgery once he fully recovers from the brain surgery.

My parents do not ask for anything and are the type always to help others. I'm sure they will not like me asking for help, but I also know they did not expect to have any of these expenses. I pray that the hospital does not charge mom for the second surgery and that they cover her ambulance ride, as she should NOT have needed another surgery if the surgeon did not mess up. However, we also know that probably won't happen.
