Medical Bills for Tom Gamache

Hi my name is Kelly and I am trying to raise funds for my husband’s medical bills.

Tom is a Navy veteran. He was a sonar technician on the USS Albuquerque, based out of Groton, Connecticut in the mid 1990’s.

Tom went to the Emergency Room on June 30 and ended up spending 8 days in the hospital. He underwent an exploratory laparotomy and about 8 inches of his colon removed along with several lymph nodes. The pathology showed stage 3 colon cancer with 3 out of 4 lymph nodes affected. He will need six months of chemo and eventually have the ileostomy reserved. He had a mediport placed on July 28 and he will start chemo on Monday, August 7. He will come home after being at the cancer center all day on Monday wearing the pump until Wednesday, every other week.

For those of you that know us we also have a terminally ill daughter who was put on hospice in April.

Update:

Tom has now started chemo and has 11 more treatments to go. At his first chemo appointment they drew blood and his red blood cell count is still low as well as his hematocrit. He will get labs every two weeks before his chemo treatment starts.

It seems every other day we are getting more bills. Most of the bills have been above $600.

Update:

Tomorrow starts his second round of chemo. He went on Saturday and did he labs that he has to do before each round. His red blood cell count, hemoglobin and hematocrit are all lower than what they should be.

So far his only side affects are: he cannot hold any thing that came out of the freezer because it sends a burning sensation throughout the area. He says coffee brewing smells like a skunk .
