Medical Bills for Weston

**2-4-19**

Well this was a good day. NG tube out, (which made him so excited he began running to the playroom! Which tugged his picc... which scared me to death and made for a new picc dressing change again, but no worries it’s still in securely [thank God they suture it in!]). He is completely off all IV antibiotics and pain medication, only having IV Tylenol as needed. He has pooped 4 times, he has had 2 popsicles and a jello... and he’s been mostly pain-free all day long. And so we’re praying for a pain-free night and an easy and obvious toleration of real food (probably beginning tomorrow). Because if all of that goes well, we are oh so close to the end. Much gratefulness here as we wrap up this very big day. Thank you for continued prayers! ❤️

1-27-19 UPDATE

Weston is out of surgery. We are waiting for him to wake up so we can see him. He is ok. Here's what happened:
When they opened him they found the anastomosis (connection site of the small intestine after removal of the sick portion initially) had nearly completely opened. Surgeon believes that probably happened as early as 7 days after his first surgery. Since then, he has been slowly leaking lots of filth. Not completely septic, but on his way. In the meantime, several loops of his small intestine got "stuck" to that open anastomosis. The surgeon had to un-adhere 5 different loops of small bowel that were stuck to that rotten connection. He had poop free throughout his gut cavity, cleaning it out is part of what took so long. He also had about a liter of diarrhea throughout his small intestine, which also was cleaned out. She removed another 15cm of his small intestine, felt the remaining bowel was healthy enough and reattached once more.

He has an NG tube again, they will leave that in probably 6-7 days to give the bowel complete rest as it's been through so much. He has a catheter which they will leave so they can closely monitor input/output and make sure there is no leakage again.

He is at high risk for infection both internally and at the incision site because of all of the free waste they uncovered. He is on a strong antibiotic now and will remain on IV antibiotics at least 7 more days. We will probably be here 10+ days longer as he heals. He has four incisions, all in the same places as the first surgery. We have been told to expect quite a bit of pain these first few days. The first surgery was big, this one was major and on very sick bowels. They are giving him a local anesthetic near the incision site (similar to an epidural but through the abdomen) for initial pain relief. They will monitor for signs of infection very closely.

Needless to say, his body has been through a LOT. He tolerated the operation well, but his road to recovery will likely be long and hard. However, he IS on a road to recovery. The surgeon believes this fixed the problem and he will be on an uphill trend from here, praise God.

Thank God we got him in there today. I can't even imagine how awful he must have been feeling these past weeks. I am reeling, but man we have a lot to be thankful for. I think from here he will get better finally.

I know you all have reached out to so many people to pray. Thank you. Please have them keep doing so as we begin this tenuous time of recovery.

Thanks you guys. ❤️

*** UPDATE ***

Weston made great strides and was released from the hospital in CA. He and Courtney made their way home for some more recovery time. Earlier this week Weston was admitted to the hospital here in WA. Much closer to home but still not at home. I spoke with Courtney this evening (1/24/19) and this is what she said " Potentially. The next few days will tell us more. If he remains symptom-Free, yes, we'll consider this post-op adhesions on his intestines which caused a partial obstruction. If symptoms return as he begins to eat again, we'll be looking at another surgery as that will indicate a bigger underlying issue. We're also waiting for the docs here to look at the tissue they removed from the small intestine initially for a second opinion to see if it holds any additional information. We're very much just waiting for anywhere from 1-3 days to see how his body progresses. The love and support we've received is so overwhelming. We could never repay everyone - not even close. We're super humbled and so incredibly thankful. ❤️"  -Courtney Jenison

***ORIGINAL MESSAGE ***

Weston Jenison has experienced a very scary medical emergency while visiting family out of state for Christmas. His bowels were obstructed and emergency surgery was necessary. His recovery has been rocky but he is on the mend! ❤ Yay!!!
This scare has resulted in a 10+ day hospital stay, a long ambulance ride, x-rays, ultrasounds etc etc. The medical bills are stacking up quickly. If we all contribute even just a little bit it can make a very big difference to Trevor and Courtney. Please give what you can to assist the Jennison Family during this trying time.
