Medical Bills Relief For Derrick Pyles

Hi! I'm Chantel and I've been blessed with one of the most amazing neighbors, the Pyles family. They've received some of the worst news a family could get, and that is Derrick is fighting an uphill battle with Testicular Cancer.

Derrick Pyles is an incredible human being, and if you know him, you know this is true! He has served so many in Davis & Salt Lake Counties working as a Police Officer. When he's not on duty, he's looking for ways to care for and serve those around him (whether it's bringing you chicken noodle soup when you're sick, helping you with your lawn, or shoveling your driveway) and it's our turn to repay their family the favor.

Derrick's Story & Diagnosis:

Derrick was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in December. He underwent surgery before Christmas to remove the tumor. Since the initial finding, their family has since found out that the type of tumor cells is not the best outcome.

The tumor is a mix of Embryonal Carcinoma and Teratoma germ cells. This is not ideal as it does not always show up in blood work or CT scans. It has been recommended that Derrick undergo surgery for Lymphadenectomy (removal of the lymph nodes in his abdomen) which will require a pretty long hospital stay and a few months of rehab & recovery.

How can you help?

The Pyles are the last people to ask for help, so instead, Derrick has been picking up extra Police Officer shifts to relieve some of the burden & financial stress this unfortunate situation has caused. Finding this out broke my heart! He shouldn't be working harder right now when his body is already under a lot of stress and his immune system isn't at its peak.
