medical costs- end of life care for Nancy Reichert
Donation protected
Unfortunately, Nancy will not be able to return home as we had all hoped and prayed. Nancy needs to remain at Hospice House for the remainder of the time she has left with us.
The Hospice doctors were able to minimize Nancy's brain seizures and keep her comfortable, but the medicines used are not able to be administered at home. Nancy is being kept comfortable at Hospice House.
We are very grateful for the remaining time we have to spend with Nancy.
Hospice has allowed Nancy's husband to remain by her side around the clock. This has given Nancy great comfort. As difficult as these last days have been this time spent together has been very special for both.
All support given will be used for medical expenses incurred during Nancy's many months spent in the hospital.
Nancy's family and friends thank you for all your donations, support, thoughts and prayers. Thank you and God Bless You.
Nancy was diagnosed in 2012 with a cavernoma in her brainstem after a fall at work. For 7 years it was a watch and wait process, until it started to affect her balance and other functions.
It was decided a surgery would be needed to remove the cavernoma as it was starting to grow larger and affecting more of her daily activities. She had the first surgery in 2019 to remove it, but then it grew back and started to affect her abilities of daily living. The 2nd surgery was done in September 2020.
The plan was she would be home in a week or two after the surgery, but many complications developed. Among them pneumonia, sepsis, and a month long bout with COVID, which she developed in the hospital with no visitors! A shunt was placed in her brain when she developed hydrocephalus and she started having brain seizures after that would leave her incapacitated.
She spent 5 months in the hospital without being able to have her family with her for support. Much of this time was spent in isolation due to COVID.
Nancy was released from the hospital last week to home when it became apparent more help was going to be needed. She is currently at hospice house, but the plan is to bring her back home where she will need 24 hour care.
The funds raised will be used to provide this nursing care and any other expenses involved with her coming home.
Her husband Wayne has emotionally supported her throughout and is not working in order to be able to stay with her.
The funds will also help with any additional medical bills and the loss of income that has occurred.
We are hoping to bring her home as soon as possible, so the funds will be urgently needed.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we are asking for your prayers.
