Medical costs for abandoned female pit hit by car

We are Chris and Nadine, and we are involved in the rescue and foster homing of animals in NY, NJ and PA. Currently we have been helping Carol's Pet Grooming Salon & Senior Pet Sanctuary in Sayville, Long Island, NY. This shelter specializes in unwanted Senior dogs, Bonded Pairs, and Dogs with serious medical needs. Mike, who runs the shelter is one of the most selfless people I have ever met in the rescue industry. Most of the funding for the shelter comes right from the profits of their grooming salon. Recently, on 9/22/23, a 9yo female pit mix was hit by a car who fled the scene. Bystanders transported her to the Atlantic Coast Animal Hospital in Bohemia, NY where she was in bad shape but has the chance to recover from her injuries. The owners were located and and gave up the dog to the hospital. Carols Pet Grooming stepped in and agreed to assume responsibility for the pit now named Goddess. 9/25 Update. Neurology consult. Her pcv remained stable so they didn't have to perform a blood transfusion yet but they do have to do a cervical spine mri right now to look for a blood clot or spinal damage. Left front leg and right rear leg are not working. Mri is thd only way to tell if she will need surgery or steroids and to come up with a treatment plan. With her hospital stay we are looking at an estimate of $10,000 plus surgery etc if needed.

We have 1,000 in donations and need another 9,000 just for Goddess. Any help is greatly appreciated as we currently care for 60 dogs. 6 have vet appts this week on top of this emergency and our previous emergencys that keep stacking up. Thank you

Just left Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital in Bohemia to see Goddess and get an update from the Dr. They will be doing a Blood Transfusion today to get her numbers back up and she has her neurology consult tomorrow. She is incredibly sweet and wagged her tail when I saw her. ❤️
