Medical Costs for Breast Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Angie. I'm setting up this fundraiser to help offset some of the medical bills that are now occurring because of my breast cancer diagnosis. I am fully responsible for my bills and am going to struggle for the next few months with no income due to treatments and surgery. I am reaching out for a little help to get me through the worst diagnosis of my life.
A little about my story.
On 1/22/24, I had a Mammogram and Ultrasound that showed a distortion in my right breast. I was scheduled for a biopsy on 1/30/24 that confirmed that I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in the right breast. The cancer began in the milk ducts and has now moved to an area outside the ducts. On 2/8/24 I met with a Surgical/Onocologist/Radiation team and began my journey with this diagnosis.
On 2/15/24 I had my first appointment with my plastic surgeon to discuss my options with surgery. My genetics testing came back on 2/26/24 negative with 23 cancer genes. I began my physical therapy appointments on 2/29/24 to help my recovery and what can occur after surgery.
3/7/24 and 3/11/24 will be the days that the markers will be placed and pre-op for the plastic surgery.
3/12/24 is my breast cancer surgery day. I will begin the day with a nuclear lymposcintigraphy injection, followed by a lumpectomy on my right breast and removal of four lymph nodes in the armpit for biopsy. This procedure by my Oncologist surgeon will be followed by a Double Mammoplasty Reduction by my plastic surgeon.
After surgery I will have many follow up appts with surgeons and physical therapy. I will be awaiting the biopsy results of the lymph nodes before I'll know if my treatment will begin with chemotherapy. If the biopsy results come back with no signs of cancer in the lymph nodes I will then begin hormonal therapy and radiation treatments. Radiation treatments look to be 5 days a week for 3 to 4 weeks.
With the best possible news, I will be off work for 4 weeks and then may be able to start edging my way back in with lighter lifting of orders for my customers.
I'll be honest, this is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I am very independent and reaching out for a helping hand has become a mental challenge for me. With that said, I know that I need to focus all my energy on getting better and not financial difficulties. I can not thank everyone enough for at least reading my story. If you are able to help, than I am more appreciative than I have words for. I promise to keep updating and advocating for your own personal health checks. Love to all and thank you!
