Medical costs for Vicki Allison

I bought my motorcycle to save gas and I was always a careful driver. I didn’t even drive it just for the joy of riding it. I used it only to get to work, to the gym, or to run errands. It takes only a fraction of a second to change a life forever.

On 6/18/22, I was riding from the gym when I met a tractor near a curve in the road. The tractor driver cut the curve short and took up the entire road. No pilot car, no warning, nowhere to go and no time to stop. We hit head on which horribly shattered my left leg below the knee and above the ankle. It filleted my leg wide open. I had to be airlifted to a hospital for all the blood I lost. I almost died. With the helicopter flight and the hospital stay, I got 12 units of blood. After 2 surgeries to save my leg, I ended up losing it. There was not enough bone left below my knee to support a prosthetic so they took my leg from above the knee; throwing away a perfectly good knee and foot.

Prosthetic legs usually last only 2-5 years and cost $20-60 thousand each. I used to be very active. I have a strong will and determination, maybe even stubborn. My medical bills from the hospital alone (not to mention the helicopter, countless follow-ups, future prosthetics, and physical therapy) far outweigh the settlement from mine and the other party’s insurance. He is a small local farmer who does not have much coverage, no umbrella coverage, and no assets to speak of. I could win a large judgement, but there is no way to collect it. Also, my medical insurance is “Obamacare” and they are telling me I have to reimburse them for their expenses (verified).

I’ve worked hard all my life, sometimes 2 jobs. Now my life is changed forever but the farmer goes on with his life as usual with only a memory of that day. Prayers and financial help will be humbly and graciously appreciated. Donations of any size will go toward past and future medical expenses and modifications I need in the house. Please help me get relief from expenses, long-term cost from an above-knee amputation, and the feeling of justice for my left leg.
