Medical costs & lodging for Nadine’s heart Surgery
Donation protected
The owner (Nadine Molloy) of our sister program (No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry) (a division of MHVA) who gives so selflessly to countless others (she feeds over 2000 Maine Pets a month ) needs our help. Nadine has cardiac health issues and just saw a specialist in Kansas. She will be having cardiac surgery in February . Nadine has Medication Resistant Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. The only surgical fix her doctor will approve, no one in New England is doing yet. It’s called Open sinus Node Sparing Thoracoscpic Hybrid Ablation. This surgery will require three more trips to Kansas ( the surgery and two follow ups). She’ll be in the hospital cardiac ICU for four days, then in a hotel for at least six days before they will clear her to fly home.
Breakdown of funds needed:
8 days in a hotel after her 4 days in cardiac ICU : $1000 (that only includes the first trip for surgery, not the two follow ups)
Hospital copay $300 a day for a minimum of 4 days = $1200
Transportation from airport and back: $88 per visit (for 3 visits) =$264
Meals after 4 days in hospital (8 days in hotel) approximately $50 a day =$400
6-8 week’s recovery then intensive cardiac rehab, which would cost her 20% = approximately $3650
2 months of out of pocket heart meds (corlinor is $3000 a month and insurance only pays 50%) Therefor, out of pocket for 2 months is $3000
Nadine’s mother who lives with her is 82 and Nadine will have to hire someone to shovel her front walk, front steps, back steps in front of her garage doors while gone, for her mother cannot shovel.
Cost unknown, & depends on weather. We will estimate $300
plane tickets: $486 round trip (3 flights) =$1458
Total out of pocket expenses:
$11,272
Nadine has asked that we lower the amount to $8,000, as she knows times are rough for all. She’s also very stubborn. Sorry Nadine, it’s true. However, I’ll respect your wishes. Xx
This will all cause an extreme financial burden on Nadine, and we don’t want that to be a factor! She gives so much to others, so let’s give back!
Worrying about these costs are causing her heart more stress, & and she doesn’t need that. Let’s show her the love she so deeply deserves!
