Medical Crib For Charleigh

Katie and Gary Gatewood's daughter Charleigh has spent her entire life, 16 months, at Motts Children's Hospital. This amazing little girl has fought for her life facing several challenges along the way. By the grace of God, and her amazing advocating parents, Charleigh is able to discharge home in the near future. Charleigh is vent dependent with a trach, has a feeding tube, and an ostomy. With all of the cares Charleigh requires day in and day out, an elevated medical hospital crib has been a must. Charleigh has lived in this crib her whole life, it's all she knows, and if there's one thing Charleigh doesn't like, it's change. She has gone through so much in her life already and is about to go through so many changes transitioning home. Unfortunately, Charleigh's care team are unable to get insurance approval for a hospital crib, which she very much needs for her amount of care! This is where Charleigh's supporters and community can help! As a nurse myself, I could not imagine providing the care Charleigh needs bent over into a regular crib as well as her tubes having to hang over rails that can't be adjusted. Not only is it not ideal, but it's not safe as her trach/vent tube is her life line to breathe. Katie and I looked up the Stryker medical crib that Charleigh has at the hospital and it of course is a hefty price. I know we can all pull together and ease this burden for Charleigh and her parents. Let's help the Gatewood's bring Charleigh home to the crib she needs!
