Medical Elective - Panay Island, Philippines
Donation protected
As part of my final year of medical school I am undertaking 6 weeks of voluntary work in the Philippines during the summer of 2025 (July - Spetmeber). 5 weeks of this elective period will be spent at the Western Visayas Medical Centre, Iloilo City where I will be working, learning and providing medical support in trauma and orthopaedic, cardiology and internal medicine settings. For my final week, I will be travelling to a remote, rural village on the island of Panay to deliver medical support in a resource scarce environment. This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will advance my clinical skills, improve my clinical reasoning and expand my medical knowledge. This will hopefully shape me into a more well rounded doctor when I return and begin work for the NHS.
A trip like this involves multiple flights, accommodation, visas, tuition, elective company fees, travel insurance, medical indemnity insurance, vaccinations, PPE, food and in-country travel which all come at a cost (around £5000). As a medical student, I still live off student loans rather than an income, so I am kindly asking for donations from any friends, family or businesses that would like to help out. I do not expect anything but would be extremely grateful for any donations!
Thank you
