Medical Elective to Bach Mai Hospital, Vietnam

Hello, my name is Sophie and I am currently in my 4th year of medical school at the University of Plymouth. As part of my degree, I have to complete 8 weeks of medical training in any part of the world - I have chosen to spend the first half of my elective in Vietnam. I will be studying and volunteering in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Women's Health) department at Bach Mai Hospital in August. This will involve helping patients expecting babies, as well as those that have just given birth; aiding women in clinics; helping midwives in delivering babies; and (if I'm lucky) assisting in surgery.

I am using my savings to pay for the majority of my elective, but as I have limited time to work, I need a helping hand. Your contributions will go towards my travel to, and around, Vietnam.

I will hugely appreciate anything that is donated and will make sure to send many photos of my experiences. This elective will nurture my medical career and development as a doctor, so for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
