Medical Expenses and Breathing Room
Donation protected
6 years ago, I started what would be the longest battle of my life.
I would go from being someone who regularly hiked, took classes on campus, who could do a shopping trip without issue to someone who can barely leave her bed without excruciating pain.
I can't walk beyond very short distances without the use of my wheelchair, I can't do housework, I can barely shower without breaking down in tears.
And doctors can't seem to figure out why.
Hi, I'm Mouse Johnson, I'm 33 years old, and I live with severe chronic pain that doctors can't seem to agree on what's the cause.
I've heard everything from Fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, fatigue syndrome, issues of the blood and endocrine system....
If it even remotely fits the puzzle, it's been tested for extensively.
My life is a revolving door of medications, doctors, and specialists paired with bloodwork, tests, and scans.
In the American health care system, that can get expensive.
VERY expensive.
Which is why I made this gofundme. For the past 5 years, just after this all started, I've been trying to get on disability benefits in hopes of lessening the load on my nesting partner and his finances. He covers everything from rent to bills to food to medication and it's taken its toll financially and mentally. The purpose of this gofundme is to ease some of that burden, and allow myself some breathing room to afford my medications and other needs.
As you can imagine, I'm unable to work a “normal” job. For the past two years, I have been freelancing when I'm able, but work is running dry and between my sheer exhaustion and mental strain the pain has me in, I can't rely on gigs on a regular schedule.
I know I've asked for help so, so many times, and the community I've cultivated has been there again and again.
But I need help one more time.
To survive.
To live.
To get better and find an answer, and maybe even a cure, for whatever the hell my body is doing.
What donations will go towards:
Medication
Appointment bills and co-pays
payments on former bills
Mobility and Physical Therapy tools and equipment
Transport to and from appointments
Donations will allow me to continue to see specialists and hopefully get some answers. It's vital that I have continuous treatments, otherwise I risk losing any and all progress I've made so far.
About me!
I'm a 33 year old queer BIMPOC living in the PNW with my partner of ten years and our four rats. I currently do professional moderation and consultation work freelance when gigs come my way, and I hope to either find work flexible enough to be permanent or finally get approved for disability benefits.
