Medical Expenses and Recovery for Malinda Murphy
Donation protected
Malinda Murphy is one of the most sweetest, caring & giving people I have met & have the privilege to call family!
Unfortunately, on 5/17/22 Malinda suffered a stroke & was life flighted from Kennewick Washington to Harbor View medical center in Seattle Washington. She immediately went into surgery to remove a blood clot in her brain.
The damage that has been done to her brain has left her with very little motor functions & a strict diet of soft/liquid foods due to the high risk of choking.
She will be doing therapy to teach the portions of her brain that haven't been affected to compensate for the side of her brain that has been damaged.
As of now she still has a minimum of a week left in the hospital & then she'll be home & continuing the extensive therapy to help her gain her strength & as much of her motor functions back as possible.
Malinda has been to numerous doctor's appointments in the last year with some on going medical issues that hadn't been pin pointed. There was never any indication of her having any blood clots. The doctor's don’t know why this happened but are still researching for now. We are hopeful that an experimental treatment that was given during surgery to help heal the damage to her brain begins to show some success in the coming days, weeks & months.
For now, Malinda needs prayers! When she returns home, However, the list of needs is long. She'll need around the clock care.
Malinda & her fiance Troy own The Dogfather food truck. This is their main source of income. Malinda was the heart of the truck. Now given the circumstances, obviously there is a hole in their business & livelihood. Troy will need help to keep things running at a minimum to stay afloat & see the needs Malinda will require are met. As it stands ALL of their scheduled events for the truck had to be cancelled. How & when they'll be able to open for service is questionable.
With the unknown & unforseen medical cost that will be coming there is a great deal of financial stress. Troy is doing all he can to take care of their home front, business & be there for Malinda. The difficult part is, she's 3.5 hours away from home. Which is expensive with the travel cost that comes with it. Gas, hotel, food, repeat covid test, Ect. Not to mention not being able to keep the business going as needed just to cover the normal bills.
As we wait for Malinda to return home. There is a bit that needs to be done to prepare their home for her safety & functionality. Helping keeping the food truck running & coordinating doctors appointments is also on that list.
Malinda & Troy have served our community well. Now it's our turn to serve them. They need our help! Financially, physically & emotionally. Malinda has a long, unknown road of recovery. If your only means of help at this time include prayers, love & emotional support it's still very much needed & appreciated!
