Medical expenses for Amanda and Jacob

Donation protected
On September7, 2021, our family got a call that would change our world forever. Amanda and Jacob were involved in a very serious car accident while Amanda was on her way to drop off Jacob at daycare before heading to work. Amanda just celebrated her 41st birthday last week, and Jacob is 3 years old. Both of them were flown by helicopter to Fort Wayne Parkview Hospital. Upon arrival at Parkview Hospital, after they accessed Jacob, they decided that he needed to be at Riley Children’s Hospital, so he was then transported by helicopter again to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

Amanda endured cracked ribs, a punctured collapsed lung, a displaced pelvis, a broken hip, a broken leg, needs stitches on both knees and on her hand, and many cuts and bruises. She had a successful 3-hour surgery to repair her broken hip, displaced pelvis, and get all stitched up. Once Amanda is released from the hospital, she will then be transferred to an aggressive rehab inpatient facility for as long as it takes for her to heal enough to be self sufficient. Then after that we will take her to Riley Children’s Hospital to finally be with Jacob.

Jacob endured a spinal cord injury, with the damage affecting his left side. He had an 8-hour surgery to repair the broken bones in his neck. He has full mobility on his right side, but has not regained movement to his left side yet. He will be in the PICU for a while yet and then moved to Riley's rehabilitation center for months-years. He recognizes Nana, Papa, Daddy, and mommy when she calls to talk to him. He's still heavily sedated but when they talk to him he flutters his eyes open. They think he's fine mentally which is a blessing.

It's a nightmare but we're so blessed that both are still alive and both will recover the best they can. It will be a very long road to recovery for both of them, but especially for Jacob. We will make sure that Jacob has the best life ever. It is unknown as to how long each of them will be in the hospital right now, and also so unknown what the future holds. As you can imagine, the ongoing medical expenses will be unimaginable. I am asking our family, friends, and community to please come together to help Amanda and Jacob. Everything happened so quickly, and in the blink of an eye their whole world has been turned upside down. If you feel it in your heart to give, it would be appreciated beyond measure. If you are unable to give at this time, we ask for your prayers and good thoughts for them. Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity! Please continue to pray and share this for more prayers. And please, If you can donate anything, even the smallest amount will be so helpful and very appreciated. With Jacob’s prognosis, there will be SO many things to be done to accommodate. Continued stay in the hospital, then a rehab facility for months-years, many therapies, changes to their house and my parents’ house to make it accessible for him, and just SO many things that will require so many resources. There are so many unknowns right now, and we are taking it day by day. So if you feel it in your heart to do something to help, please donate to and share the GoFundMe, so we can give this sweet boy everything he will need to have the best life he can that he deserves. DONATE, SHARE, AND PRAY PLEASE!!!! We love you all and appreciate your kind words, prayers, thoughts, and donations so much.
