Medical Expenses for baby Anderson

Hello everyone,

Today, I want to share a deeply personal story that has touched the lives of our family and, most importantly, my sister's growing family.

My sister and her husband are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child, a beautiful baby boy name Abel. However, their journey has taken an unexpected turn as their little one has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

What is Spina Bifida?

Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect where the spinal cord doesn't develop properly, often leading to paralysis, mobility issues, and other health complications. It's a challenging condition, but it doesn't define the potential of baby Abel.

What is Hydrocephalus?

Hydrocephalus is a condition where an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can cause serious health problems. It requires ongoing medical care and treatment, including surgeries and regular monitoring by a specialized team.

My sister and her husband have shown unwavering strength and determination in the face of this challenging situation. They are ready to do everything they can to give their baby the best possible life, and this is where your support becomes invaluable.

My sister and baby Abel will be undergoing a very intense prenatal surgery in the coming weeks to repair baby Abel's spinal cord to hopefully midigate any further damage. Luckily, Vanderbilt is one of the very few hospitals in the US capable of treating this condition and my sister and baby Abel are in excellent hands.

We've set up this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial burden of the extensive medical treatments, surgeries, anticipated lengthy NICU stay and ongoing therapy that their little one will require.
