Medical expenses for Denise Benton

Hey friends and family, it’s April. Most of you know Denise Benton. We met several years ago at a nursing job, clicked automatically and now she’s part of my family. She’s my sister!

Denise is a 44 year old resident of Cleveland, TN. She’s married to David Benton of 7 years. They have a smart and handsome, happy 4 year old son, Gabriel. Denise is a wonderful nurse, wife and mom.

She had an area biopsied on 10/25/2023 due to the shape, color and size of what she thought could be cancerous. Sadly two days later the diagnosis was confirmed. On her right thigh is invasive malignant melanoma. Because of how deep the area is , she was referred to an oncology surgeon. At that appointment she was told the next steps are scans/imaging, surgery clearance from her endocrinologist, and possible immunotherapy medication. She also was referred to a plastic surgeon for reconstruction of the cancerous tissue area. It’s currently staged at 2C. She also has to have lymph nodes thoroughly checked. She’s in the process of scheduling a PET scan and mammogram to check her entire body prior to surgery. Once the tests are complete, she’s cleared for surgery and reconstruction.

You can see how this an emotional rollercoaster for her and the family. Due to unknown financial expenses, I started this go fund me for her. Her insurance is only covering $500 towards surgery. Nothing else is covered including the PET scan, both surgeons and anesthesia. Anything over $500 is out of pocket expenses.

This is the month for giving thanks. I give thanks that she’s still here with us! With the holidays approaching quickly, I know this is a scary time for her.
