Medical Expenses for Efren Zuniga Sr.

On April 26, 2023, our Dad suffered a MASSIVE STROKE while he was eating lunch at a noodle stop in Quezon City, Philippines. We are thankful for the charitable heart of the stranger who witnessed his stroke and rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was then transferred to another hospital for specialized care. His brain was swelling beyond his cranium's capacity and was already starting to bleed/hemorrhage. He was then transferred from ER to ICU where he later fell into COMA and had to be intubated. It was then that we decided as a family to consent to a life saving intervention, an emergency DECOMPRESSIVE CRANIECTOMY (neurosurgeon took out the top of his left skull), to let his brain breathe. He didn't fully wake up until 4 days post-surgery. He was then moved to a "stepdown" ward for bedridden patients, breathing on his own, and undergoing daily therapy. We are now on Day 30 in the hospital. We have a long journey ahead as we prepare him for another surgery in August, long term care at home, medication, caregiver services, and agressive therapies for the next 12 months.
