Medical Expenses for Jakob

On December 13, 2021 my 23 year old cousin Jakob suffered a life threatening fall from the 5th floor of his apartment building. Although the event was traumatic in so many ways, there were many blessings. Jakob hit the 2nd story balcony that helped break his fall and pushed him out far enough for a MedStar team to notice him and administer help.

Jakob suffered a total of 23 broken bones including 7 in his pelvis, his left femur, both heels, both upper arms, 2 ribs, scapula, and 4 lumbar vertebrates. He suffered from a collapsed lung, spleen laceration, a brain bleed and more internal bleeding and injuries, and a bone infection in his left arm. Over the course of 7 days Jakob underwent 6 major surgeries and procedures to repair the extensive damage to his body. The surgeons did what seemed impossible. It is a miracle that Jakob is here with us today.

We are now on day 19 of his hospital stay with many more ahead of us. His recovery will be long, hard, and costly with months of rehabilitation and therapy in the future. It is my hope that we can help to ease the financial burden of recovery so that Jakob can focus on his rehabilitation and health, physically and mentally.
