UPDATE:

WE HIT GOAL! Below is a personal thank you message from Jim and Lori:

To all our generous friends and family.
We are truly grateful for your very generous gifts to help us navigate this unexpected journey we are now endeavoring. We are sure you can imagine how totally surprised we were to receive the diagnosis of ALS. Lots of changes ahead for us, such as just being able to get in and out of this house with a wheelchair as well as many more accessibility items. You can’t imagine
how scary this is, so much to learn.
We can assure you your donations are very much appreciated and will definitely make this new
journey easier for us. These funds have already reduced a huge burden from our shoulders.
There are no words to show you all our great appreciation for the love and support you have shown us.
Thank you very much dear friends and family,
Jim and Lori Brady

Original message: I have never done this before, but we need your help.

Last week we received the devastating news that my step dad, Jim Brady, has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease, also known as ALS. This news has completely devastated and shocked us all, to say the least. Both my mom and Jim are very prideful people. They don't have Facebook and don't know that I'm doing this. But they need our help. They have, and will continue to have, an overwhelming amount of medical expenses as Jim is going to need ongoing care as well as specialized medical equipment as this is such a rare disease.

Jim has always been a "man on the go", never sitting still for too long. He always had something to do or a project to finish. He is a Geologist by trade and was a volunteer firefighter for many years. If you know Jim, you know he is always willing to lend a hand and help you out. He's been Santa at Christmas for the kids and loves making handmade gifts for people. This disease is incredibly hard for anyone, but especially hard on someone that has always been so active.

Your support means more than you know! If you are fortunate enough to be able to help, big or small, I know it will help ease some of the immense pressure that this situation has placed on both of them.

THANK YOU!
