Medical Expenses for Kathy Coble

My name is Rachel Wilson and I am Kathy Coble’s daughter. Along with my brother Kyle and our stepdad Mike “Bear” Coble, we are starting this fundraiser in order to cover unforeseen medical expenses due to Mom’s recent injury and recovery.

For those that may not know, Mom fell on March 19, 2023 and broke a bone in her neck. She also suffered a contusion on her spinal cord which caused temporary paralysis of her arms and legs. She was in ICU for 9 days, underwent emergency spinal surgery, and was in rehab for almost a month. She came home earlier this week in a motorized wheelchair.

Now that she is home, Mom needs home health care assistance and while she has a home health/long term care insurance policy, the benefits do not start for 90 days. Mom will continue to accrue medical costs during that period and she and Bear will need to pay those expenses out of pocket.

Here is an example so you will know where your donations are going. Mom was supposed to have home health care assistance seven days a week. The hourly cost is $29, and they stay with her four hours every morning. $116 a day multipled by 7 days a week equals $812 a week, which they now have to pay out of their own pockets until the policy kicks in. We have gone down to every other day for now while we work to absorb the costs.

We know everyone’s funds are limited and we appreciate anyone giving what they can to help Mom and Bear out financially during this time.
