Medical Expenses for Laurie Gleason

In the early the morning of Tuesday, October 16, Laurie was returning home from dropping off her husband at work. While proceeding at the intersection of Broadway and Dousman, she was struck by a 19 year old individual driving at a high rate of speed without headlights on. In addition, the driver of the vehicle took off running, as they were already evading police prior to the accident.

After being extricated from her car, Laurie was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital. It was then determined that she would need to be flown to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee for further care.  Laurie's injuries amount to a broken pelvis (in four places),  which she had surgery to repair the day after the accident as she was too unstable to have the operation Tuesday.  She also has a broken collar bone, broken sternum, three broken ribs, broken ankle, bruised heart, internal bleeding of the brain and spleen. The spleen bleed caused her spleen to rupture Friday morning and she was rushed to emergency surgery to remove it, as her blood pressure dropped down to 45/20. Once Laurie is stable enough she will be transported to Green Bay via ambulance to recover in an inpatient rehab facility. At this time it is still undetermined when that will be. 

Laurie is insured for $10,000, however the other driver was not insured. This means several months, if not years, that Laurie and her husband will be dealing with the legal system to receive compensation. With the severity of her injuries and the length of time she will need for recovery, her expenses will great.

This was Laurie and her husbands only vehicle as well.
