Medical Expenses for Mary Anne Veach

Donation protected
My amazing sister-in-love, Mary Anne Veach - mother to FIVE beautiful children, wife to my brother, Chris Veach, and friend to many near and far - is facing a tough battle in the coming months. After finding a lump in her left breast region, Mary Anne went to her doctor to get checked out. Following a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy, Mary Anne was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on December 17th. Since then, she’s had various appointments, tests, and scans to determine the treatment of this terrible disease.

Her team of doctors and nurses – based at Kettering Hospital in Dayton, OH - informed Mary Anne that she has between stage 2-3 breast cancer T3N1. The doctors also discovered she has a mutated BRCA gene. The BRCA genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, are tumor-suppressor genes, meaning that their function is to identify and correct genetic mistakes that could lead to cancer. When these genes become disabled by mutation, they can no longer act against tumors, leading to a much greater chance of developing breast and ovarian cancers.

Given her young age (36), Mary Anne, Chris, and the wonderful team of doctors and nurses have decided an aggressive treatment plan is best. Her course of treatment will take her into at least the summer months. Each week she will travel to the Kettering Cancer Center for double doses of chemo, lab work, and/or Dr. visits.

After the chemo treatments, Mary Anne will need to undergo a bilateral mastectomy because of the mutated BRAC gene. To make sure she is 100% cancer free, radiation and other surgical procedures are being discussed. These options will be decided at a later date.

Along with chemo treatments, Mary Anne wants to be proactive and boost her immune system. She has elected to work with a functional doctor by integrating holistic medicine. This will include supplements, a whole foods diet approach, and infusions of various vitamins as needed.

As you can imagine this is A LOT, both emotionally and financially for a young, active, and busy family of 7. Please consider easing the burden for Mary Anne, Chris, and their family by donating to her cause!! No donation is too small, and all donations are greatly appreciated! Donations will go towards medical bills, gas for the weekly visits to the cancer center, which is approximately 30 minutes one way, and other various expenses.

A community rallying together is a powerful thing! Any prayers or positive thoughts are always appreciated as well. Thank you in advance for all of your support.

Her battle is our battle.
