Medical expenses for Max Sisneros III
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I am writing to you all with a heavy heart, as my 71-year-old father was in a horrific accident on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was moving heavy equipment on a hill near a sinkhole, alone at a ranch in Colonias.
The truck he was driving could not make it up the hill and began to slide. He was initially able to stop the slide of his truck. He then started to use heavy equipment to pull the truck back up the hill when the chain that attached his truck to the heavy equipment broke.
He jumped into the truck to try to engage the emergency brake. Unfortunately, there was too much momentum, and the truck, trailer, and all other equipment were pulled into the 70-foot-deep sinkhole. Upon impact, the heavy equipment instantly exploded.
Miraculously, my father was able to pull himself out of the truck while the truck, trailer and all equipment were engulfed in flames. He crawled on his hands and knees with a fire burning on his body. Still trapped in the sinkhole, with no way of contacting help, he spent the next 12 hours alone, severely injured, and at serious risk of hyperthermia due to his skin loss and, therefore, his body's inability to retain heat.
The following day, my brother Alan was able to rescue him from the sinkhole alongside paramedics and the fire department. He was taken via ambulance to Santa Rosa, then medevaced to Albuquerque. Upon arrival at UNMH it was identified that his wounds were too severe to be treated in Albuquerque. He was immediately transported to UMC ICU at the Burn Trauma Center in Lubbock, Texas, where he will be receiving several skin graph surgeries, physical therapy, and occupational therapy for the next several months
It is a miracle that my father survived this horrific accident
Unfortunately, the medical expenses are far more than our family can afford, and the medical insurance for a rancher is not very good. Any help or support you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support for our family during this challenging time.
