Medical Expenses for Kent Dushane
Donation protected
Kent Dushane (AKA "Pearl") was born with Charcot–Marie–Tooth diseas. (CMT) is one of the hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies, a group of varied inherited disorders of the peripheral nervous system characterised by progressive loss of muscle tissue and touch sensation across various parts of the body. Currently incurable, this disease is the most commonly inherited neurological disorder and affects approximately 1 in 2,500 people. CMT was previously classified as a subtype of muscular dystrophy.
A little over 10 years ago Pearl was diagnosed with Crohn's and liver issues which require him to do treatments in the form of injections. Pearl has also been diagnosed with osteoporosis and this has caused him to fall several times and break several bones and that has recently put him into a powered wheelchair.
The funds raised from this campaign will be used for items in his home so he can be as independent as possible and for his past and current medical bills and expenses. His wish list for his home includes a lift chair, bathing chair, a bed to lift his head and feet and his ultimate goal would be to eventually have a handicap vehicle to allow him to get out and help others besides himself. Anyone who knows Pearl knows how important fundraisers for other causes are and he wants to continue to contribute out in the community, but is currently stuck in his home until he has a vehicle that can transport him and his wheelchair.
Pearl's medical bills add up daily and it's very hard for him to stay current.
Pearl never asks for help for himself, but we all know how deserving he is to have the medical equipment necessary to make his life easier.
