Medical Expenses for Scott Fitzsimmons

Scott Fitzsimmons is a retired Lieutenant from Helena Fire Department in Helena, Alabama. His career began in 1987 where he spent numerous days and nights caring for others in their time of need. Unfortunately, he sustained injuries on the job and was forced to retire early. Fast forward to May 2020. Scott's doctor performed surgery for what he thought was an intestinal blockage. The blockage ended up being adenocarcinoma cancer in his lower bowel. He completed chemotherapy treatments and it was determined the cancer was gone. However, the cancer has recently returned and this type of cancer does not have a high cure rate. Scott's cancer doctors have recently gotten him in with Emory University, a research hospital, in Atlanta, Georgia. The prayer is that these specialists will be able to find a successful treatment for this type of cancer. Scott needs help with mounting medical bills as well as his upcoming commutes and visits to Emory University. This will consist of medical expenses, travel expenses, food, lodging and any other unforeseen cost that may come with his next step in treatment. His prayer is that this will help doctors discover a treatment for others who may be diagnosed with this type of cancer. It is not in his nature to ask for help. However, we realize that he is to the point in his journey that he needs financial support.
