Medical Expenses for the Rogers Family

Donation protected
On Saturday April 2nd, Jimmy was at home and got up out of his chair to get something from the back of the house. As he was standing in the hallway door his blood pressure bottomed out to a very dangerous level. This caused Jimmy to fall flat back on his spine and head. For those that don’t know, Jimmy has a progressive degenerative autoimmune bone disease called ankylosing spondylitis. When he was first diagnosed, this was not a common condition, but has become more prevalent in recent years. In Jimmy’s case, his disease has progressed to the late stages and has caused numerous obstacles in pain management, movement, struggles with daily functional activities, and fusion of joints and spine. Jimmy has had two joints replaced to help slow the progression, but is on a various amount of medication to keep him comfortable at base-line. The one thing the doctors have always cautioned him and Daphne about has been to try and avoid falling at all costs. His fall meant that he was rushed to the ER at Sumner Regional that evening. Not only is Jimmy recovering from Covid and a recent stint in rehab for Covid Pneumonia, that has spurred further issues with his heart and blood pressure, but now on Tuesday April 5th Jimmy had a major spinal surgery that completely fused T6-T11. This surgery used screws, rods, and a cage to help stabilize his spine. What could have turned out very differently, ended up being a complete miracle from the Lord. Jimmy made it through the surgery and is now on the other side. Recovery however is not going as planned. Due to orthostatic hypotension, Jimmy is unable to move, get out of bed, or partake in the rehab program with PT and OT. When he is sat up in bed, or attempts to stand, his blood pressure tanks. This is very dangerous and makes it hard for the team to get him on the road to recovery post massive surgery. The doctors and nurses are taking great care of him, but we need the Great Physician to guide the way and to heal him completely. Jimmy has been out of work since February, Daphne has had to take off work to be with him at the hospital, and they are looking at a long road of recovery to stabilize blood pressure issues and rehab his body to adjust to his new normal. He will need therapies extensively to work on sitting, walking, and other daily activities. For now, he remains in the medical portion of the hospital until they fix the blood pressure issues. Then he more than likely will be moved to the rehabilitation floor where he will receive daily PT and OT therapies in the hospital setting and at home once discharged. This is a long haul recovery process for him and for Daphne to walk beside him. We first must ask for your prayers. We know God is the GREAT PHYSICIAN and we have peace that He knows the road ahead. However, the family has been asked by several how they can help. Financially, the family is looking at numerous medical bills, and is still paying on a large amount of bills from his three weeks stay in February and March. This will also help to cover bills while they are both not at work. If you are willing and able any and all help to assist with medical bills would be a great blessing to the family. As stated earlier, the biggest blessing and need is your prayers as the family walks this long road ahead, and pray that he makes it through surgery with the best results possible.
