Medical Expenses for the Wallace Family
This is my friend, Danielle Wallace, of Pendleton, Oregon. If you are from the eastern Oregon area, you may have run across Danielle as she is always in the community working or helping others. She always has a bright smile, kind words, a love for animals and livestock and a heart made of pure gold. Running into Danielle , you'd never know the troubles she faces and you'd never know she is in one of the darkest chapters of her life. Her resilience is amazing, but everyone has a breaking point. And right now, I am afraid my sweet friend is reaching hers.
Like many others, 2020 did not treat The Wallace Family well. In fact, it has dealt Danielle and her husband Dave the toughest hand of cards they have ever had. In March, Dave started to experience a long list of symptoms including: headaches, loss of eye sight. tremors, unstable balance and an unstable gait. This was a frightening experience for the Wallace Family and Dave has been seen by several specialists all across Oregon and Idaho. Unfortunately, Dave still does not have answers about his medical condition. Although doctors have been able to rule out (stroke, MS and tumors), they still do not have a diagnosis or treatment for Dave.
Dave will be seen by a Retinal Specialist in Spokane, Washington this month and later go in for an MRA. They will travel to OHSU in Portland to be evaluated and continue testing there. We are hopeful this round of doctors and testing will have a diagnosis for him.
Due to this unforeseen experience the Wallace Family is burdened with a financial situation that is impacting their daily lives. Dave has been out of work since the first onset of symptoms. This family relies solely on Danielle's income and they feel blessed to that she has been able to work through the COVID shutdowns. However, Danielle's income alone is not enough to sustain the basic needs of her family, household expenses plus a new stack of large medical bills and upcoming travel and treatments. To date, The Wallace Family has $10,000 in medical bills and more to come. Danielle remains positive through all of this - she continues to go to work, she wears a smile, says kind words and wants to help anyone who comes in. She would never want to weigh you down with her troubles and she would never ask for this kind of assistance herself.
Pendleton is a hardworking community, with strength, integrity and characterized by a devotion to the agricultural and western way of life. The Wallace Family has the same values. They need us! Hearing the story of this family first-hand from Danielle, is heart-breaking. I am asking that we come together as a community, as their family, as their friends, co-workers or complete strangers and help this sweet Pendleton family. Let's help them regain their resilience and help them ensure that they are able to travel to the specialists and seek the medical treatments.
Please share the posts if you can. And more valuable than money is the power of prayer. Please continue to pray for Dave's health and pray for the doctor's who are searching for a diagnosis to get him the help that he needs.
