Medical expenses for Todd Hussey

Donation protected
Hello my name is Jane Hussey and today I received devastating news that breaks my heart. My little brother Todd Hussey has been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. Todd is only 51 years old and still raising his family. He is awaiting a MRI to see if it has spread anywhere else so they can see what the next step will be. So far it has not spread to any major organs. That’s good news.Todd hasn’t been able to keep any food down for over a month and is down to 114 pounds. I was kinda scared to hug him today he looks so fragile.
Todd is going to have the fight of his life over the next year to fight this and any help towards the costs for him and his family will be greatly appreciated.. Worse case scenario he might have to go to New York for a new treatment for esophageal cancer where they say there is nothing more can be done here. The MRI will tell us more.
I know many people out there know my brother and he is very well liked and has great friends that will gladly help, so thank you in advance and please pray for Todd and his family to have the strength to get through this tough road ahead

On March 30th, Todd had an MRI done and was taken down to surgery to have a gavage inserted. For those who don't know, a gavage is a feeding tube that gets inserted into the stomach. What is usually a 1/2 hr procedure turned into a 4.5 hr major surgery. The esophagus cancer has unfortunately spread and the tube had to be installed into his small intestine and he came out with 24 staples in his abdomen. He has been in a lot of pain and the feeding tube has been causing numerous issues and is only feeding at a rate of 35ml/hour. So, as you can imagine, he's pretty thin and doesn't have a whole lot of energy. He has been pretty heavily medicated until April 11th when his wife asked for him to be given nabilone (synthetic cannabinoid). Since receiving his first dose, he is much more alert, sleeps a bit more and has not once asked for a shot of Dilaudid. Today, the doctor came and installed a picc line in his arm to get him more nourishment. He received a call from oncology in Moncton appointments for treatment are being set up. Because Todd is considered not eligible to have surgery to remove the cancer, he and Terry have asked the doctors to send a request for a second opinion to a hospital in Quebec and also a second opinion from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Todd has the will to live and is prepared to do anything and everything he can to beat this. Please continue to send him your love and strength at this time.

And the family sends a big thank you for all the support and donations and messages and cards etc.....

Hello Everyone
Just a little update for you. Todd started his chemo today in Moncton. The goal right now is to get him back to Bathurst at home and he will continue the Chemo treatment there at Bathurst hospital. We are looking at other treatment options but for now the goal is to shrink the tumour. The drs placed a stint in his esophagus so he can eat solid foods to try to get him more nourishment, but he’s having difficulty as he has no appetite yet.
Once again thank you everyone for your support.
