Medical Expenses for Virgil (Rocky) Ealey

Donation protected

Hello Friends, Family and Community! This page is the start of updates and Fundraising for The Ealey Family.

On June 1st, Virgil (Rocky) Ealey fell at home and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital by Excelsior Springs EMS where he underwent neurosurgery for a C4 level fracture the following day. To our devastation, it has left him paralyzed and he has very limited movement in his arms. He has an extremely long and hard road ahead, but he is determined to make the most of it. As part of his recovery, the family is looking into admitting him to a hospital that specializes in spinal cord injuries so that he can get in depth, specific rehabilitation for this massive lifestyle change.

Rocky worked his whole life to support his family and to be able to enjoy retirement. He is a loving husband, father, and grandfather to 4 fantastic grandchildren, who are also his biggest motivation. He longs to be as active as possible with them and still has many aspirations that he plans to fulfill. Rocky is also a veteran of the United States Army who gives selflessly of himself. He is a life long resident of Excelsior Springs and is always lifting a helping hand for his community, as well as, always being the "rock" to his family. This will be a huge lifestyle shock for him and the family seeing as how active he enjoys being. The fun is not gone however, rather, it is a new adventure to find new ways to enjoy, appreciate, and participate in activities.

That being said, his wife, Diana, has had to take unpaid FMLA to attend rehab with him to be trained on spinal cord injury aftercare. Between medical bills, and daily life bills, finances are becoming strained. There are far more things not covered by insurance than what people realize, and all of those things will have to come out of pocket as well. For example, any at home modifications that will need to be done to accommodate him, and other medical supplies that are not covered.

We understand that the past year and a half has been taxing on everyone, but we would be beyond blessed if you could make even a small donation. Every penny is going to count for us on this journey. We thank you all for you love and support and plan to keep you updated on his constant progress. God bless you!
