Medical Expenses Granddaughter Diabetic Coma

We are requesting funds to help pay for our granddaughter, Miera’s medical expenses she is incurring overseas. Miera turned 13 years old last month. She went on an overseas trip with her maternal grandparents. Previously, she had no signs of diabetes or was diagnosed with it. Before the trip, she had an upset stomach, took some medicine to help ease it and felt fine on July 3rd to fly. Everything was good that day. On July 4th, she was unresponsive and in a coma. She was rushed to the overseas hospital where they determined her glucose levels were extremely high, and nearly killed her. Her father flew on Wednesday to be with her. Our prayers were answered when she woke up on July 6th but is weak. She is still in ICU. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. She will be on insulin shots, 3 times a day, for the rest of her life. She is covered with insurance but only covers 80% of her medical expenses. As you know dealing with health insurance is not easy when in the US let alone when you are overseas! Her father is dealing with his insurance and the hospital to pay the bills. There is a lag in time from the US insurance to pay the hospital bill. In addition to the hospital bill, the airfare costs were unexpected. We are requesting to cover the 20% of uncovered medical expenses. We can’t wait until Miera is back in the USA to get her into an Endocrinologist and regulated with her insulin.
