Medical Expenses - Wilbur Family

In December 2022, Cindy started having muscle pains in her shoulders and neck. By February they had turned to nerve pain becoming debilitating by March. She lost feeling and circulation in both arms, hands, and legs, and had severe neck pain. She was unable to work for several weeks due to the pain and being unable to drive.

On March 16th, she was instructed to go to the emergency room when she took a couple of falls and other ailments became more severe. Early on March 17, we were informed she had a tumor in her spinal column that was pressing on her C6-T4 vertebrae. Surgery was on March 20 at Duke Hospital in Durham. She was transferred to Wake Rehab at the beginning of April.

She will be released from rehab to go home to begin 6 weeks of treatments in the first week of May. She will have radiation Monday through Friday along with chemo pills. The doctors are still not clear on what type of tumor she has. The pathology report didn't give clear results, so part of her tissue was sent to the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C.

She is still unable to walk and gets around using a power wheelchair. Her 2 sons are 5 and 6 years old. She has been unable to work since late February and her husband, Skip, has taken time off from work to prepare the house for her to come home and to take care of the boys.

We are praying that God and the treatments will take this tumor out of her and she will be back running after her 2 boys.
