Tucson Face Shield Production by Gowlery

It's hard to sit back and do nothing when our world is hurting. But for the majority of us, sitting back (staying home!) and doing nothing is exactly the best thing we can do to help. For people in the maker community, there are still a lot of things we can do from home. A lot of people have been able to stay home and make fabric face masks - a huge blessing to so many of our health professionals!
I'd like to take it a step farther in helping our Southern Arizona community. I have been running my laser business for the last 5 years, and I would love to put my machines to work making face shields. According to the Pima County Health Department, we are in need of over 100,000 face shields for our medical facilities. I am estimating that the face shields will take less than 3 minutes to make, and should cost between $2-4 each. I am still working through the design and material sourcing (most of the material is on back order, so I'm looking at other materials and getting creative!), so those numbers may shift slightly. I'm hoping to be able to keep them towards the lower end of the estimates.
In an ideal world, I would have waited to have the design and material source before asking for support, but this is currently a far from ideal world, and every minute and every face shield can make a difference! If for some reason I am unable to source material that will make acceptable face shields, then any money collected will be donated locally to aid our medical professionals.
I would love to be overwhelmed with support to where I am unable to produce enough volume on my own. If that happens, I will outsource to other local laser operators.
