Prescribe Pediatric Extended Care
PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) is a non-residential center that serves three or more medically dependent or technologically dependent recipients 0 - 21 who require short, long-term, or intermittent medical care due to medically complex conditions.
PPEC offers services that meet the recipients’ physiological, developmental, nutritional, and social needs.
PPEC are state licensed and regulated. They are operated and staffed by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and other qualified personnel such as RN and nursing assistants.
PPEC provide up to 12 hours of daily care for families struggling with the unique and complex medical needs of their children, and allow the parents of children with special needs some independence and the opportunity to still pursue their professional goals.
The children who come to PPEC receive skilled medical, respiratory, physical, occupational, and other therapies tailored to their individual needs.
There are over 59,000 children in Florida that qualify for PPEC services
Florida has 73 licensed PPEC capable of serving only 6% of the population.
