Medical Fund for Grace Philhower

October 4th is normally a festive day for our family because it my sister Jackie’s birthday. But, this year, the October 4th was anything but festive. Jackie’s eight year old daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with grade 4 Medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor. Grace had surgery the following day at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to remove the tumor. Radiation began on November 6th and will continue five days a week for six weeks and then will be followed up with four months of chemotherapy.

Besides Grace, Jackie and her husband Rob have two children at home, Ashley, 12 and Emily, 4. Grace is incredibly brave and sweet, and loves spending time with her sisters and their dog, Rosie. Despite not feeling well, Grace still musters a smile for her friends and family and looks forward to visiting the nursing and support staff that took care of her at CHOP.

While we are hopeful for Grace’s prognosis, the next several months are demanding. Although Grace has medical insurance, there are a plethora of expenses that easily become burdensome. Funds raised will be used for out-of-pocket medical expenses, supportive treatment, travel and lodging costs, and additional household support.  Please consider donating to support my sister, my niece Grace, and her family.
