Medical Fund for Jerry DuBois
Donation protected
Jerry successfully battled lung cancer a little over two years ago. This past July, the cancer had metastasized in the form of inoperable brain cancer and he underwent radiation treatment. This treatment has now left Jerry unable to swallow (which means it is extremely difficult to drink or eat). Unfortunately the doctors have stated that he can never go home again and had to be placed in a skilled nursing facility.
We all want quality of life and because of that, Jerry’s wife of 24 years was faced with the task of having a DNR in place so that her husband would not have to suffer any longer. Jerry’s family was told on November 4 that he had perhaps two weeks to live.
Little did anyone know, as it was not explained to Cathy, when signing the hospice papers that insurance no longer would cover his stay in a facility. She would have to pay $8K per month out of pocket as our insurance industry does not cover that type of service once hospice has been asked to become involved. Insurance will pay the fee for hospice but not the Room & Board portion.
Jerry & Cathy’s friends are asking you to help ease this financial burden so that Cathy is able to spend Jerry’s final days with him without worrying how she is going to pay for these enormous medical expenses. Whether it is $5 or $100, whatever you are able to donate will help ease this unnecessary burden. To know that is wife Cathy will not have to struggle financially when he is gone will help give Jerry peace of mind as he prepares to leave his family & friends.
Their friends and loved ones thank you!
