Let's Help the Palermos!

As the friends and family of Nick, Sumarah, Joel, Zach and Sam Palermo, our hearts have gone out to them for the years of struggle they have had due to the effects of Sam's traumatic brain injury.  

In October of 2013, Sam was a senior and the captain of the football team at Prospect High.  He suffered a concussion playing a game. A few weeks later, he was cleared by his doctor to play again, and in his first game back, he suffered another concussion.  The remainder of the year, Sam struggled to maintain his grades and social activities, but it became clear to the family that there was something seriously wrong.

In the summer of 2014, the Palermo's sought medical help for Sam.  He saw neuro specialists and a psychologist,  but none of their protocols seemed to address his issues, and his condition regressed.  He is now hyper sensitive to light and noise.  He has not been able to attend college, work or engage socially.  

Sam became frustrated with the failed attempts by these doctors, and was hoping that time would heal him.   It's been over 3 years, and he is now willing to try a new type of treatment that had been recommended to Nick and Sumarah.

Rehab Without Walls is a top-notch organization that treats traumatic brain inury patients in their own home.  A team of therapists meet will meet with Sam and  engage him in various therapies and protocols to heal his brain.  

Insurance will cover 70% of the cost, but the Palermo's will be required to come up with $8000 for their co-payment.  

As you may know, Nick has recently started a new ministry for disabled teens and adults called Emmaus Inn Ministries and money is tight for the family.  They are willing to do what it takes to help Sam.

As their friends and family, it would be such a blessing to them if we came together to show our love and support for them in their time of need.  Any amount over the $8,000 will be used for ongoing treatment.
